This course is for structural design drafters in structural design offices or school leavers seeking a career in construction design offices or the construction industry. Completion of the course will enable existing drafters to achieve advanced skill levels and provide an entry to this sector or the construction industry for others. The course aims to provide students with skills in structural design drafting, basic surveying, materials testing, project management as well as background knowledge to the construction industry, structural design drafting and analysis. This course is an approved qualification for the issue of a NSW Office of Fair Trading contractor license/qualified supervisor certificate for general building work. Career opportunities include senior structural engineering design drafter, structural engineering associate.

Students must have completed Year 12 or equivalent or qualify for mature-age entry. They should also satisfy the English language requirements such as IELTS score of 5.5 or TOEFL (iBT) score of 46 or equivalent or Certificate III in English for further study at TAFE NSW or equivalent.
