This course will prepare graduates for employment in the financial services sector in Australia. The degree has been developed by academic professionals and industry experts to deliver on global best practice financial planning expectations. The result is a specialist degree geared towards preparing students for the practical demands of a professional career. The degree has a multidisciplinary focus and develops students’ practical skills and comprehensive knowledge of the financial planning industry. The course covers the legal and regulatory environment, finance and investment, professional communication skills, critical thinking and analysis, professional performance, and reflective practice. A key feature of this course is the opportunity for students to undertake an industry internship in the third year of the course, enabling students to synthesize and apply their learning in a real workplace situation. Graduates from this course will articulate into the Financial Planning of Australia (FPA) Certified Financial Planner program (CFP), and may also undertake further postgraduate study in finance related areas at a number of Australian or international universities.

Students must have the following requirements: NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent; a recognized Tertiary Preparation Certificate; a qualification from a Registered Training Organization at Certificate IV level or the completion of at least one year full-time or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution. International students whose first language is not English or who have not completed their secondary education in English or who have not completed an Australian educational qualification must demonstrate English proficiency at a minimum IELTS level of 6.5, with a minimum level of 6 in any one band.
