Ringkasan program
This program enables students to connect their everyday life, personal, community and vocational interests to the broader issues. It equips students with a highly prized combination of critical and creative thinking skills and abilities. Cultural studies offers an interdisciplinary approach to the study of culture, nature and society through textual analysis, cultural theory, media analysis and understanding how meaning is made through power, identity and place. Cultural studies empower diversity, social inclusion, ethical and innovative scholarship that guides and informs how to live, work and learn. Students develop responsible scholarship practices that are highly valued in both work and life. Students can undertake learning opportunities in the community through a number of units as well as assessment opportunities. Professional placement provides the opportunity to gain experience in the workplace. Students in the writing major may seek placement in the writing, publishing and media industries, while students in history may seek placement in heritage and historical museums or associations. Students in the cultural studies major may also seek professional placement with a community organisation working in an area of their interest. Community history project enables students to do a collaborative project with community partners. Other opportunities for community-engaged learning exist within the degree depending on units chosen. It builds critical thinking, creative practice, research and writing skills, with a strong emphasis on community engagement giving graduates a wide range of career options. The flexible nature of the course structure enables students to choose more than one major and a range of elective units, which further enhances future career options. Depending on choice of majors, graduates may find employment in community relations, cultural policy, management and administration, education, publishing, public service, multimedia design, creative and cultural industries, politics, social justice and human rights.

Students should have completed an educational qualification deemed to be at least equivalent to completion of year 12 in Australia and achieved the equivalent of the minimum entry grade for the course for which they have applied. They should have fulfilled the Universitys English language requirement: IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band or TOEFL score of 550 with no less than 4.5 in the test of written English or TOEFL Internet-based with a minimum score or 79 and a minimum of 22 in writing and no less than 18 in other bands or equivalent.
