This course ensures students will have an international experience to their tertiary studies. The course includes core units in international and global studies, and the opportunity for students to study up to three semesters overseas. The international studies can be completed at this university off shore campus, South Africa, Prato Italy or Sunway Malaysia or at one of more than 100 partner universities around the world. Students can pursue the range of careers available to both arts (Global) and science graduates. Archaeology is the study and reconstruction of past societies and their evolution. This major considers material culture (art, architecture, ceramics, objects of daily use) together with social structure, religious beliefs and cultural philosophy. The study of ancient literature and documentary evidence is stressed. The focus is on the study of the cultures of Egypt, Minoan Crete, Mycenaean Greece and ancient Israel. Other cultures examined include Assyria, Babylon, Classical Greece, Rome and the early city-states of the Near East. Graduates are able to pursue careers as professional accountants or may use the skills gained in their arts component to pursue a career in a field related to their major studies. Students must have satisfactory completion of all work requirements for eight units at level 3 and 4, including English (any). English (any) includes English as a Second Language and also any specified prerequisite studies for course entry or equivalent Interstate Year 12 qualification or equivalent New Zealand Year 12 qualification. VCE applicants must have Units 3 and 4-one of biology, chemistry, mathematical methods (either), physics, geography, psychology or specialist mathematics, and a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English. They must have achieved the following English language proficiency test results: IELTS (minimum test score of 6.5 overall; no individual band less than 6.0); Paper-based TOEFL (minimum test score of 580; a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5); Internet-based TOEFL (a score of at least 90 overall; a Writing score of at least 22; no score lower than 20 on the other sections of the test); Cambridge English CAE (A grade); Cambridge English CEP (C grade).
