This program in music in the Faculty of Arts has a distinguished record of music scholarship, composition and teaching, and has produced many of Australia’s leading music professionals. Its aim is to enrich Australia through a unique multi-cultural music education, broadly based in studies of society, culture and performance. A wide range of units of study are offered which are designed for intending professional musicians, students with broad interests in the study of music in culture, and students who will pursue other careers. The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offers a range of subject areas that prepare graduates for careers in administration, education, business research, marketing, media, management consultancy, public relations, gallery and museum curatorship, hospitality and tourism, community and welfare. Graduates are proficient in research and inquiry, and demonstrate personal and intellectual autonomy, and ethical, social and professional understanding, qualities sought after by leading employers all over the world.

Students must have an acceptable secondary qualification from their high school studies (or at least one year of tertiary studies). They must satisfy IELTS score of 6.5 (min 6.0 in each band) or TOEFL minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT score of 90 overall including a minimum result of 22 in reading, listening and speaking and 23 in writing).
