Politics includes the study of government, political institutions and movements, and power. It addresses a broad range of phenomena, from the construction of political identity to how local, national and international communities deal with competing values, ideologies and interests. Subject areas include Australian and global politics; public policy; political theory; and political economy. Students can also study specific issues such as gender politics, the environment, and political communication. A range of popular internship schemes in the Victorian Parliament and in government, community and private sector organizations are available. International Studies covers the politics and societies of many different countries and regions. It explores the relationships between these countries and regions, and the international system as a whole. A wide range of issues and topics include globalization; regionalism; environmental politics; American power and diplomacy; international relations; comparative politics; gender politics; human rights and humanitarian intervention; terrorism; security issues; and many other topics related to the shifting dynamics of world affairs. Students can complete one major, one major and one minor, or two majors in Bachelor of Arts. Graduate pathways include Executive Master of Arts, social sciences, cultural management, media, communications and publishing, honours, higher research, and professional entry programs. Careers include international relations, diplomacy, multinational business, politics, policy development, and government. This program can be completed in accelerated mode also.

Applicants must have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent qualification. International applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria in English language requirements: (International Baccalaureate (IB): English - a result of grade 5 or higher in standard level or a result of grade 4 or higher in higher level); achieved a study score of at least 25 in English/English Language/Literature, or at least 30 in ESL; TOEFL paper based test score of 577 or more including a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English, computer based test score of 233 or more including an essay rating score of 4.5, internet based test score of 90 or more with no band score less than 21; an overall band score of 6.5 or more in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0; satisfactorily complete secondary studies and gain the required score in an approved final-year English subject; within the last two years have satisfactorily completed at least the first year of a tertiary course taught and assessed entirely in English; or within the last five years have satisfactorily completed at least a two year tertiary course taught and assessed entirely in English.
