This course can be studied at ANU in a specialized Bachelor of Science (Psychology) program or as part of a combined degree. Students take at least 78 units of psychology. A pass degree in psychology provides an excellent grounding in the field. An honors degree or fourth-year diploma provides additional training in research and substantive psychological skills. This is essential for admission to associate membership in the Australian Psychological Society, for registration as a psychologist in the ACT, and for enrolment in most graduate degree programs. The career path involves at least six years of training. The main areas in which psychologists are employed include clinical, organizational, health, community, counseling and educational/developmental psychology. Psychology is an excellent preparation for broader graduate employment. Psychology graduates gain analytical, quantitative, report writing and communication skills that are focused on the issues and problems confronting human beings.

Students must have completed an approved tertiary preparation course or alternative entry scheme; they will be assessed on the results of that scheme alone, unless they have undertaken subsequent study. International students whose native is not English should have the following English qualifications: Academic IELTS - an overall score of 6.5 with at least 6 in each component of the test; TOEFL (paper based test) - a score of 570 with TWE score of 4.5; TOEFL (computer based test) - a score of 230 with Essay score of 4.5 or TOEFL (internet based test) - a score of 90, with a minimum of 20 in all four sections.
