Students will explore the legal relationship and contractual obligations between the banker and customer, as well as examine contemporary issues and challenges created by the changing face of personal and online communication. In banking units the student is exposed to the issue of information asymmetry that exists between the borrower and the lender and the need to design contracts that reveal and monitor the quality of the borrower. Banking professionals need to be sharp and savvy, flexible and technically knowledgeable to manage increasing risks associated with the interest sensitivity of their assets and risk management issues created by credit hungry clients and liquidity demanding depositors. The banking and financial management industry is one of the most heavily regulated and competitive industries in the world, posing additional challenges to the banking professional. As banking professional they will be dealing with a diverse and complex range of products in an exciting and multi-layered industry dealing with almost every type of financial arrangement including mortgages, loans, equity markets and business management. Graduates of this course are also potentially eligible for associate membership of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).

Students must have successful completion of their Diploma or other recognized post-secondary qualification or equivalent. They must achieve any one of the following: at least 7 points over the best 2 or 3 subjects at H2 level in GCA level/STPM; CPS of at least 54 in WAUFP, International Baccalaureate (Full IB Diploma) with score of at least 25, Australian ATAR between 60.00 - 64.99 indicative or an Indonesian SMU3 with a score of 8. In addition students must demonstrate competency in the English language by achieving the following scores in one of the following English language proficiency tests: IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based) 550 (with the Test of Written English 5); TOEFL (internet based) 80 (no band less than 20); Australian Matriculation English with a pass; GCE O-level C6 or better; 1119 General Paper with credit pass; TEE ESL with 60 per cent; or WAUFP ELACS with a pass.
