This integrated dual award model provides students who choose direct entry to the University with the opportunity to gain both a Bachelor in Community Welfare and Counselling and a skill based qualification in their chosen field of community services. Students will study the two awards concurrently, undertaking the TAFE Diploma modules in their second and third years in place of Arts electives. This course is accredited by the Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers (AIWCW) and equips students for competent and ethical community welfare and counselling practice. Graduates are qualified to work in the relevant field employed by the Victorian Department of Human Services. Graduates may work with individuals, families, groups and communities in crisis or development in areas such as community services, counselling, and social research, policy and planning.

Students must have academic Year 12, International Baccalaureate or equivalent academic qualification. VCE prerequisites include units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English. International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites include a score of at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL. They must have achieved the following English language proficiency test results: IELTS (minimum test score of 6.5 overall; no individual band less than 6.0); Paper-based TOEFL (minimum test score of 580; a Test of Written English (TWE) score of at least 4.5); Internet-based TOEFL (a score of at least 90 overall; a Writing score of at least 22; no score lower than 20 on the other sections of the test); Cambridge English CAE (A grade); Cambridge English CEP (C grade).
