This course provides the theoretical and practical skills and competencies to enable graduates to engage effectively in the work of counseling in a range of professional fields. This course offers students an opportunity to think critically, informed by their study and personal development, of the importance of counseling interventions in a complex and pluralistic society. Graduates from the Counselling majors(Queensland only) will be eligible to apply for associate membership of the Queensland Counsellors Association and membership of the Australian Association of Pastoral Counsellors. Career Paths include Community correctional officer, Correctional caseworker, Child Safety officer, Family resource worker, Juvenile justice officer, Youth worker, Family worker, Counselor for Lifeline, School chaplain, Teen challenge counselor, Church-based chaplain, Pastoral care worker in hospital, and Counseling at Kids Helpline.

Students require equivalent of Australian Year 12 certificate, plus an overall academic IELTS score of 6.0 (with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and speaking tests, and a minimum of 5.5 in listening and reading tests).
