This course allows students to complement social work studies with an understanding of welfare agencies and the welfare needs of individuals, families and groups. Based on a philosophy of social justice, it gives students the knowledge and skills to practise as a social worker and to work effectively in complex organisations. A key feature is the practical placement component, which allows students to gain practical skills in the field. Major areas of study include: social work theory and practice, diversity, Indigenous studies, ethics, sociology, welfare history, mental health, working with children, youth and families, child protection, psychology, casework, group-work, community work, social policy, research, program design and evaluation. On completion, graduates may find roles in hospitals and community-based health services, related to disability, substance abuse, child protection and family care, aged care, indigenous support, housing services, mental health, family services, psychiatric services, protective services, refugee and asylum seeker support services, local government, community work, social justice advocacy and counselling services.

Students must have completed Australian year 12 or equivalent to other countries. They must also satisfy one of the following English language requirements: IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 with no individual band score less than 6.0 or TOEFL Paper-based Test: a minimum score of 550 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English or TOEFL Computer-based Test: a minimum score of 213 with a score of 5 in essay writing or TOEFL Internet-based Test: a minimum score of 80 with no individual score less than 20 or satisfactory completion of an English language subject at Year 12 or equivalent level which have been completed in the last two years and at an academic level acceptable to the University or approved equivalent.

This campus is situated on 33 hectares of natural Australian bushland adjacent to the Bendigo National Park, just three kilometres from the centre of Bendigo. It is the University's second largest campus with more than 4000 local and international students studying courses in this regional Victorian city. Bus routes 11 (University) and 14 (Strathdale) connect the campus with the Bendigo Railway Station and CBD. Train and coach services operate between Melbourne and Bendigo seven days a week. A bus service direct to the University from the Bendigo railway station operates each weekday morning and afternoon.

This campus provides student residences has single and twin share study bedrooms available for student accommodation. Each student has their own bed (bedding needs to be supplied) desk, chair wardrobe, bedside drawers, bookshelf and pinboard. Students can bring their own TV set, computer and bar fridge. The rooms have air conditioning and heating. Rooms are cleaned weekly by the cleaners. The Residences are about a 30 minutes walk or a 5 minutes drive from the City centre. The common room has a large TV and VCR. A table tennis table is available. The Campus also has a large oval. A gas barbecue is provided and The Habitat is set in a spacious garden setting.

This campus is one of the University's major regional campuses, with modern and attractive buildings, an excellent library and ready access to University-wide resources. The campus offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with some courses being unique to the campus. Studying at the Albury Wodonga campus offers the advantage of personalised support and tuition from our dedicated staff. Wodonga is situated on the main train line between Melbourne and Sydney. Services are available seven days a week. Coaches from various centres also stop at the Wodonga Railway Station.

This campus has both on campus and off campus accommodation. Student Residences form the on campus accommodation. Residences consist of twelve units with six bedrooms, one with five bedrooms and one fully accessible unit with four bedrooms. All units cater for mixed genders. Each student has their own bedroom and shares the kitchen, laundry, bathroom and living area. Each unit is fully furnished and equipped with kitchen appliances. Students need to provide their own bedding, towels and electrical equipment such as stereo, bedside lamp, etc. Most students cook for themselves, but the nearby cafeteria provides meals at a reasonable cost.

Life in residence gives students a unique opportunity for intellectual, social and personal development in a safe and dynamic residential community. This campus has three residential colleges, two residential halls and two residential apartments. Residential colleges and halls are Self Catered (students prepare and cook food on their own) and have single bedrooms with shared bathrooms and kitchen. Residential halls Serviced by the campus bus. Residential apartments have fully furnished lounge, bedrooms and kitchen. They are ideal for families with children and married couples.
