This combined course of study that will add to student’s IT qualification skills from medical science, biomedicine, and bioinformatics. The demand for graduates qualified in IT and medical science is expected to soar as medical science research becomes increasingly dependent on IT. As part of the Bachelor of Information Technology degree students will enroll in one stream, either computer science or information systems, while also studying foundation science followed by senior units of study in the clinical sciences, choosing from anatomy and histology, biochemistry, biology (genetics), history and philosophy of science, immunology, infectious diseases, microbiology, pharmacology, pathology and physiology. Majors include agricultural chemistry, anatomy and histology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biology, cell pathology, chemistry, computational science, computer science, environmental studies, financial mathematics and statistics, geography, geology and geophysics, history and philosophy of science, immunobiology, information systems, marine science, mathematics, medicinal chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology and genetics, nanoscience and technology, neuroscience, pharmacology, physics, physiology, plant sciences, psychology, soil science, statistics. Graduates may also be involved in creating and managing business applications, web sites, systems and the IT environment in all types of industries. The degree also forms an ideal base for graduate research in medical science. Candidates planning a career in medical research should plan to study an honours year followed by research for a masters or PhD. Alternatively many graduates choose to undertake an administrative career in private industry or government where a good knowledge of the medical sciences is an advantage.

Students must have an acceptable secondary qualification from their high school studies (or at least one year of tertiary studies). They must satisfy IELTS minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band or TOEFL minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT minimum result of 90 overall including a minimum result of 22 in reading, listening and speaking and 23 in writing.
