This course focuses on the built environment inside commercial and domestic buildings. Critical aspect of the program is its balance between creative design and construction technology. A strong focus on design, including creative solutions, critical analysis and concept development, is complemented by work on building construction, documentation and presentation skills, and professional practice issues. The interior architecture studio units are supported by specialist units in structures and services, building construction and materials, communication methods and media, ergonomics, model making, furniture design, computer-aided design, professional practice, project research, and planning and marketing. The degree in interior architecture can lead to a career in design for the retail and commercial sectors, domestic interiors, furniture, exhibition, entertainment industries and general architectural sector.

Applicants must have completed the following: VCE prerequisites with units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English, and a minimum ATAR of 70. International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites: core of at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL. Also applicants must demonstrate their English language proficiency with an IELTS minimum overall test score of 6.5. The individual band scores required is 6.0 in reading, listening, writing, and speaking; or with a TOEFL score of 580 in paper-based test with a TWE score of at least 4.5, overall score of 90 in internet-based, at least 22 in writing and no section lower than 20.
