Ringkasan program
This course provides students with insights into some of the major challenges facing the planet, including population explosion, growth of megacities, natural hazards, environmental degradation and climate change. It is the science of place and space, standing at the intersection of natural and social sciences. Teaching methods consist of lectures from leading experts, practical, computer and laboratory classes and tutorials. This major also includes field work and three field trips of two to three days. The Faculty is well equipped for teaching and research in geography and the teaching is supported by the world class research of the Centre for Regional Development, Centre for Environmental Economics, the Oceans Institute and Policy and the Centre of Excellence in Natural Resource Management. Geography graduates are employed in urban and regional planning, economic and social analysis, and environmental management and research. Geographers also obtain employment in social welfare agencies, policy making areas of government and secondary teaching. Students with Geography major can pursue further studies at honors level and/or at Masters Level. A Master's can be studied either by Coursework (for example, Geography, Urban and Regional Planning or Environmental Science) or by Research (Thesis and Coursework in areas such as Environmental Economics).

Students must have completed Western Australian Universities Preparatory Program (WAUPP) with a score of 63, International Baccalaureate with a score of 29, French Baccalaureate with a score of 12, UWA Foundation Program (UWAFP) with a score of 66, GCE or Cambridge Advanced-level Examinations with a score of 8. To be eligible for admission to a program at UWA, they must demonstrate satisfactory performance in a UWA-approved test of English. This is the case even if English is their first language. They must also have WA Certificate of Education in English, Literature or English as an additional language/dialect with scaled mark of 50 or above, in stage 2 or stage 3. TEE English/English Literature with scaled mark of 50 or above English as a Second Language with final mark of 66.60 or above (in 2007). There are different English language requirement for various states.
