This degree enhances the professional skills which students acquired in their primary degree by allowing students to access more rigorously the links between the theoretical bases and practice. The degree also develops skills in problem analysis and research which can be applied at the professional level. It provides the opportunity to continue undergraduate studies at a higher level, specialising in a particular area of interest. The program is a rigorous and scholarly program of further study, which develops a student's ability to generate new knowledge and distil new ideas out of existing knowledge. Students in this program will focus on medical science. Graduates with honours are particularly sought after by employers and can choose from more interesting research and development positions because of their extra skills and proven abilities. It can also provide a pathway to research higher degree study. Completing an honours degree involves an additional full-time year of study (or the equivalent) following completion of a bachelor program. It focuses on medical science.

Students should have completed a relevant Undergraduate degree with a GPA of 5 or higher. They should also have an IELTS (Academic) overall band score of 5.5 (with no individual band score of less than 5.0), TOEFL (Paper-based) 500 (computer-based score of 173) including a score of 3.5 or more in the Test of Written English (TWE), TOEFL (Internet-based) overall score of 61 (minimum writing score 17).
