This double degree allows students to combine a passion for sport and outdoor recreation with the rewards of a career as an educator. Students undertake studies in sport and outdoor recreation simultaneously with studies covering the theory and practice of teaching. Graduates will be confident and competent educators who are able to specialise their teaching career in physical education and outdoor education. In addition, students will also be qualified to work in a range of positions in the sport and outdoor recreation industries. The sport and outdoor recreation program is designed to give students a deep understanding of the relationships between movement, recreation, health and wellbeing, physical education, leadership and the environment through a combination of class-work and practical components. The education degree provides students with comprehensive knowledge of education theory and practice combined with practical teaching experience to ensure the graduate as a confident and competent educator. Secondary education studies include adolescent learning, curriculum development, assessment, language and literacy, and they will qualify for two teaching specialisms. Studies in secondary education are offered in two distinct study streams. The physical education and outdoor education stream qualifies students to teach physical education and outdoor education at all levels of secondary schooling. Within the multidisciplinary stream their specialisms will be either physical education or outdoor education, combined with one other discipline such as counting, health, IT/computing, mathematics, psychology or science.

Applicants must have completed equivalent to Australian Year 12. They must also have completed the following prerequisite: VCE prerequisites - units 1 and 2-two units (any study combination) of general mathematics or mathematical methods (CAS) or Units 3 and 4-mathematics (any). Units 3 and 4-a study score of at least 30 in English (ESL) or 25 in any other English. International Baccalaureate subject prerequisites: a score of at least 4 in English SL or 3 in English HL or 5 in English B SL or 4 in English B HL, and a score of at least 3 in any mathematics subject. Also they should demonstrate their English language proficiency with a minimum overall IELTS test score of at least 6.5 with individual band scores required at 6.5 for Reading, 6.5 for Listening, 6.0 for Writing and 6.0 for Speaking. In the internet-based TOEFL, an overall score of at least 90 with at least 22 in the written section and at least 20 in the speaking, reading and listening sections.
