This course comprises an overview of tourism as one of the world's largest industries as well as examining tourism as a system and a field of human activity. Students are introduced to key areas of academic knowledge, including: tourism marketing, sustainable tourism, tourism planning and destination development. Students also cover issues such as ecotourism, globalization and tourism, interpretation for tourism, and heritage and tourism. Students have the opportunity to undertake a corporate internship within the tourism sector during their final year. Students must also complete an additional complementary major in a discipline offered by one of the Faculties of Business, Arts, or Science, Engineering and Technology. A major may be taken in an area such as marketing, human resource management, entrepreneurship, management, a language, the humanities, Antarctic studies, geography, computing, journalism, the visual arts or the social sciences. Well educated and adaptable graduates of the Bachelor of Tourism degree will be strong applicants for jobs in a wide range of fields, following are few examples: tourism, hospitality and the travel industries; tourism planning and destination development; heritage tourism, museums and historic sites; wilderness, Antarctic and nature tourism; tourism research; tourism marketing; tourism administration; tourism journalism and the media and other service industries and sectors.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students who have completed a diploma or advanced diploma from an Australian Institute of TAFE, or equivalent qualification, and have been admitted to the course may receive credit/advanced standing. The amount of credit/advanced standing granted will depend on the relevance of the prior studies and the intended complementary major.
