This dual degree offers the largest choice of engineering programs in Queensland, with a large number of distinct majors and double majors. The flexible curriculum equips students to work in both established and newly emerging areas of engineering. Students develop their understanding by applying basic science and engineering principles to engineering problems of commercial importance. In addition to technical expertise, the program emphasises essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, project management, problem-solving and lifelong learning. The arts degree gives students a better understanding of how human beings make, recognise, and argue about life's meaning and the values that support civilisation. The program provides graduates with highly developed skills in written communication, problem-solving, critical thinking and interpersonal understanding. The program offers courses in the core disciplines of humanities and social sciences. Students can choose from a wide range of majors, tailoring the degree to suit their own particular career aspirations. The program is also available in dual degree format with a range of other UQ degrees. In this studies in religion major students have the opportunity to expand their religious and spiritual horizons, increase their knowledge of (some of) these traditions and ideas and to develop critical methods of evaluating them. Studies in Religion offers courses by professional and highly enthusiastic teachers in the areas of Western and Eastern religious traditions, spiritual practices and religious thought, in the psychology of religion, in new religious movements, and in the original languages of the sacred texts of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islam. They can also combine with the engineering majors chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, mining engineering, software engineering.

Students must have completed Queensland Year 12 or equivalent English, mathematics B plus one of chemistry or physics. Both physics and chemistry are recommended. They should also satisfy the English language requirements: IELTS (overall score of 6.5; writing score of 6); TOEFL - (Computer based score of 237; Essay writing score of 4.5); TOEFL - (Paper based score of 570; TWE (Test of written English) score of 5); TOEFL - (Internet Based (IBT) overall score of 90; writing score of 21).
