This course determines much of today's social and political landscape, and students trained in this field are exceptionally well-positioned to play a leading part in the future direction of business, government and society. Economics is the science of decision making. As individuals, communities, companies and governments, everyone face choices every day, weighing up the costs and benefits of their decisions. With the ongoing momentum of globalisation, development, economic/financial/cultural integration and increasing pressure for ecological sustainability, economics remains the key element. They can also combine with the information technology majors computer systems and networks, human-comp intaction, software design and software information systems.

Students must have completed Queensland Year 12 or equivalent English, mathematics B is recommended. They should also satisfy the English language requirements: IELTS (overall score of 6.5; writing score of 6); TOEFL - (Computer based score of 237; Essay writing score of 4.5); TOEFL - (Paper based score of 570; TWE (Test of written English) score of 5); TOEFL - (Internet Based (IBT) overall score of 90; writing score of 21).
