In this course students can combine the flexibility of a Science degree with a professional Journalism qualification. While attaining media, communication and journalism skills, students can either have a broad scientific background or specialise in an area. Psychology is the scientific study of how people behave, think and feel. It is a broad ranging discipline that spans topics including brain function, memory, conscious experience, lifespan development, social behaviour and the full spectrum of functional and dysfunctional behaviour. Undergraduate students will gain an understanding of how to apply the scientific perspective to psychological phenomena in the laboratory and in the real world. Psychology is one of the fastest growing and most rewarding professions. It provides graduates with a competitive edge in many areas of employment in Australia and overseas. Following advanced training there are a number of specialist career areas in psychology including scientific research, neuroscience, clinical practice, or consulting in large corporations, hospitals or government agencies. Those who chose careers outside of psychology will find their training in psychology to be highly relevant and useful in their lives and work.

Students must have completed Queensland Year 12 or equivalent English, mathematics B plus one of chemistry or physics. They should also satisfy the English language requirements: IELTS (overall score of 6.5; writing score of 6); TOEFL - (Computer based score of 237; Essay writing score of 4.5); TOEFL - (Paper based score of 570; TWE (Test of written English) score of 5); TOEFL - (Internet Based (IBT) overall score of 90; writing score of 21).
