This qualification provides the participant with the skills and knowledge required to commence a career in the Hospitality Industry. Participants may secure employment in a role which requires competency in a range of basic activities and functions requiring operational knowledge and foundation practical skills in a food and beverage operation. This employment may be undertaken in various hospitality settings, such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. It can provide a practical foundation and create opportunities for a graduate to continue study into apprenticeships and trainee-ships in all fields of the hospitality industry, including Food and Beverage, Cookery, Bakery and Patisserie. This course provides pathways and credit towards Certificate III, IV and Diploma of Hospitality and Bachelor of Hospitality Management.

Students must have good record at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent. They must also satisfy English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5, ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB) or 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.
