This course is a good introduction to the field of community services. Interested students will need to demonstrate the ability to read and complete workplace documentation, including client records. They will need to establish a rapport with people and effectively communicate with them, showing an understanding of their feelings, and have the ability to plan activities and negotiate outcomes. They will also need to demonstrate basic computer, internet and word processing skills. This course requires a mature approach, appropriate personality and dedication to this area. Pathways to further study include Diploma of Community Services Work at Tasmanian Polytechnic. This course is for people who are looking to start a career in a community services organization. It is relevant to a wide range of services that provides support to disadvantaged individuals and groups. Graduates work as community services worker; residential support worker; neighborhood centre worker; support worker; youth worker.
