This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent as a qualified cook who specialises in patisserie. Work would be undertaken in various hospitality enterprises where patisserie products are prepared and served, including patisseries, restaurants, hotels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafes and coffee shops. Individuals may have some responsibility for others and provide technical advice and support to a team. Upon successful completion of this course, students are eligible to receive the Certificate III in Hospitality (Patisserie), a nationally recognised qualification in the hospitality industry. Individuals with additional qualifications in patisserie are well positioned to pursue the extensive opportunities that exist within the hospitality, bakery and food preparation industries. Graduates of this program are well positioned to pursue further training opportunities in other areas of hospitality, including specialised training in other areas of cookery, or higher-level management training.

Students must have good record at Year 11 level or the overseas equivalent plus relevant employment experience. They must also satisfy English language proficiency level of IELTS 5.5, ISLPR 2+, TOEFL 197 (CB), 46 (iBT), PTE Academic Score of 42 (no communicative skill score less than 42), Cambridge English: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) of 47 or equivalent.
