This course is designed for people who want to work, in a laboratory in the food, chemical, manufacturing, construction materials, biological/environmental or pathology industry sectors. Students will learn laboratory techniques for testing and analyzing materials/specimens. An important outcome of the course is becoming accustomed to workplace protocols such as the requirements for record keeping of samples, equipment and reagents, calibration schedules and sample testing procedures. To receive the Certificate 4 in Laboratory Techniques students must complete five core units and a range of additional units. Possible job titles include technical assistant.
