Ringkasan program
This course provides students with a solid grounding in two major laboratory streams: biological and medical laboratory technology and chemistry and analytical instrumentation technology. Biological and medical laboratory technology stream involves preparing students for work in private or public medical diagnostic laboratories. Such laboratories exist in hospitals and commercial pathology service organizations. Students are trained under the supervision of specialist teachers from industry, for example, medical scientists from the hospital, pathology services or forensic laboratory. Studies focus on the medical science areas of microbiology, haematology, clinical chemistry (liquids of the body) and histology (body tissues and cells). Chemistry and analytical instrumentation technology stream prepares students for work in quality control laboratories in the food and beverage processing industry, or in the areas of traditional analytical chemistry and environmental monitoring. Major activities include analyzing processed food and drinks and the sampling of water for quality determinations, using a range of complex instruments and laboratory equipment. Students receive up to one year credit to Bachelor of Science at the University of Tasmania.
