Ringkasan program
This is a research higher degree, normally leading to a thesis, which may only be undertaken by applicants holding a medical degree. It provides training and education with the objective of producing graduates with the capacity to conduct independent research at a high level of originality and quality. The MD does not provide specialist postgraduate medical training. At Flinders University, the MD is regarded as being equivalent to a PhD. Although the Doctor of Medicine is most commonly taken by research leading to a thesis, it is possible, under certain circumstances, to gain the degree by the presentation of published work. Applicants for the degree of MD by published work must have had a postgraduate association with the School of Medicine, the Flinders Medical Centre or another approved institution for at least three years, and must satisfy the Faculty Higher Degrees Committee that they have made a substantial contribution to knowledge and scholarship in a particular area of medicine.

Students should normally have gained at least a credit average in their medical degrees, and should preferably have gained some research experience. Students who have not had previous research experience are still encouraged to apply as candidature provisions can be put in place to permit progression towards the degree of MD. They should have IELTS (academic) score of 6.0 (6.0 in speaking and writing); TOEFL (paper) score of 550 (TWE 4.5); TOEFL (internet) score of 80 (20 in writing and speaking); Cambridge (CAE) Grade of B or higher; Cambridge (CPE) Grade of C or higher; Pearson English Test overall score of 59 with no communication score less than 53.
