This program in Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at The University of Sydney Business School may be undertaken within all disciplines, or within a research centre, and in association with one of the dynamic research groups. The degree requires the satisfactory completion of six coursework units of study and research and writing toward a thesis of 80,000 words on an approved topic, under the supervision of an academic panel. PhD candidates at the University of Sydney Business School may undertake supervised research with a discipline or research centre within the school: Discipline of Accounting, Discipline of Business Information Systems, Discipline of Business Law, Discipline of Finance, Discipline of International Business, Discipline of Marketing, Discipline of Operations Management and Econometrics, Discipline of Work and Organisational Studies, Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies and Workplace Research Centre.

Students must hold a bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours in the proposed field of study from the University of Sydney or equivalent, or a master's degree with at least an average result of 80 per cent with a 25 per cent research component in the proposed field of study from the University of Sydney or equivalent. They must satisfy IELTS score of 7.0 (min 6.5 in each band) or TOEFL minimum result of 600 overall including a minimum result of 5.0 in writing or IBT score of 100 (minimum 24 in writing and 23 in reading, listening and speaking).
