Ringkasan program
This program involves the study of Convex, functional and nonlinear analysis: Investigate Banach algebras and lattices, geometry in Banach and metric spaces, variational inequalities and the use of ultra product methods in analysis. Discrete mathematics: Solve Diophantine equations that arise from the geometry of polygons and polyhedra in the same way that the Pythagorean equation arises from right-angled triangles. Study graph-labelling problems and graph decompositions; classify graphs which admit various kinds of so-called magic labellings. Experimental mathematics: Using high performance computing in conjunction with numerical and computational analysis to discover, explore, expose, illuminate, test and establish conjectures, facts, patterns and relationships. Fixed point theory: Develop widely applicable yet easily verifiable criteria for the existence and approximation of fixed points of non expansive type mappings on Banach and metric spaces.

Students must have satisfied all of the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor with Honours Class 1 or Honours Class II, Division 1 or any other degree approved for this purpose by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) or have satisfied all of the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor in the University or any other degree approved for this purpose by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee), and have achieved by subsequent work and study a standard recognised by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) as equivalent to at least Honours Class II, Division 1 or in exceptional cases submit evidence of possessing such other academic or professional qualifications and or experience as may be approved by the Pro-Vice Chancellor (or nominee) on the recommendation of the relevant Head of School or in some disciplines (education, medical physics, nursing, social work, social sciences, surgery) have completed a minimum standard of professional experience as required by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (or nominee) on the recommendation of the Head of School. Students of China must have Senior Middle School 3 or 2 60% (SMS 3) or 75% (SMS 2), Malaysia students with SPM 30 points over five subjects and UEC 30 points over five subjects, Singapore students must have GCE ‘O’ Level (or forecast results) 30 points over five subjects and Vietnam students must possess Diploma of General Education Average grade 7.0. English language requirements include IELTS Overall Score of 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0), TOEFL – Computer-based Test score of 173 with a TWE minimum score of 4.0, TOEFL – Internet-based Test 71 with a minimum score of 16 in Writing, TOEFL – Paper-based Test 500 with a TWE minimum score of 4.0, GCE ‘O’ Levels C6, SPM English of grade B4, UEC Senior 2 English of grade B3, HKCEE English with grade C (Minimum D in Writing) and HKALE Use of English with grade E.
