The program of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Sydney Medical School will allow students to pursue research from one of a number of areas in which the faculty has expertise. They will complete the degree in three to four years during which time they will undertake research culminating in the submission of an 80,000 word thesis. PhD candidates at Sydney Medical School may undertake research in one of the following areas: anaesthesia, anatomy and histology, cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, gastroenterology and hepatology, general practice, geriatric medicine, haematology, infection and immunity, medical education, medical genetics, neurology, nuclear medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, oncology, clinical ophthalmology and eye health, paediatrics and child health, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, psychological medicine, public health, rehabilitation medicine, renal medicine, respiratory medicine, rheumatology, surgery.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students should hold a relevant master's degree or a bachelor's degree with first or second class honours. Alternatively, an applicant may be admitted having passed a qualifying examination at a standard equivalent to the bachelor's degree with first or second class honours. They must satisfy IELTS minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band or TOEFL minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT minimum result of 90 overall including a minimum result of 22 in reading, listening and speaking and 23 in writing.
