This course emphasizes on whole- organism biology, the ecology and bio-geography of tropical marine organisms, and the evolutionary mechanisms that underlie their diversity. Students will develop their knowledge and skills in quantitative marine ecology, conservation biology and the biology, life history and taxonomy of tropical marine organisms. Preliminary coursework subjects consist of semester-long offerings. More advanced subjects are offered by block mode, which is a two-week intensive session on campus.

Students must have completed a Bachelor of Science, from this or another university; or completion of the Graduate Certificate of Science from this university; or other qualifications recognized by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Science and Engineering as equivalent. They must also satisfy the following English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5) or TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (plus minimum Test of Written English score of 4.0) or TOEFL (internet based) score of 79 (minimum writing score of 19) or Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 57.
