Ringkasan program
This course provides specialist training and a professional qualification for graduates who are working or seek to work in the fields of TESOL, second language and teaching and learning, professional communication, second languages and other areas of applied linguistics. This program may also be taken for general interest. High-achieving students who complete the Minor Thesis elective may qualify for entry to Master of Arts by Research (MA), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Students who complete the Master of Applied Linguistics should: acquire advanced understanding of concepts, current issues and research methods in the core areas of applied linguistics; complete a focused piece of research if undertaking the minor thesis elective; gain specialist knowledge and research techniques in their chosen specialisation. Students who complete the minor thesis elective may qualify for entry to Master of Arts by Research (MA), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). This course is mainly focused on Language Testing specialisation.

Applicants must have completed a four-year honours degree or postgraduate diploma in an appropriate discipline with a grade average of at least H2B (70 per cent), or equivalent; or three-year undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline with a grade average of at least H2B (70 per cent) and at least two years of documented relevant professional or work experience; or undergraduate degree and graduate certificate in an appropriate discipline and at least two years of documented relevant professional or work experience. International students must fulfill the following English language requirements: IELTS (academic English only) score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (paper-based test) score of 577 plus TWE 4.5; TOEFL (computer-based test) score of 233 plus 4.5 essay rating; TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 79 (writing 21, speaking 18, reading 13 and listening 13); Pearson Test of English (academic) score of 58-64 inclusive and no communicative skill below 50.
