This course provides analytical and research skills which are valuable to students in all their professional activities. Students can begin with a single course, and work their way right up to a masters. Students obtain analytical and research skills valuable within professional environments, and can gain entry into the MPhil or PhD research programs. The Writing, Editing and Publishing (WEP) area at UQ is one of the most well-regarded and celebrated of the University. It's also the best place in Queensland to seek the answers to those questions. The lecturers; published authors, journalists, PR practitioners, corporate writers and communicators bring a breadth of experience to each of the classes. In turn, students are offered real opportunities for employment and industry networking. Individual courses cover the areas of: film scripting, grammar, freelance journalism, manuscript editing, corporate editing and publishing and fieldwork projects. The programs draw from dictionaries and style guides most commonly used in Australian publishing and use a range of specialist dictionaries, grammars and technical manuals.

Students must have completed bachelor degree in any field with a grade point average of 4.5 or Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Arts in the relevant field. Applicants with a relevant four year degree may be eligible for entry to the 16 units program. They should also satisfy the English language requirements: IELTS (overall score of 6.5; writing score of 6); TOEFL - (Computer based score of 237; Essay writing score of 4.5); TOEFL - (Paper based score of 570; TWE (Test of written English) score of 5); TOEFL - (Internet Based (IBT) overall score of 90; writing score of 21).
