This program in environmental engineering will teach students how to make assessments on the impact of projects on the air, water, soil and noise levels of the environment in the vicinity. They will gain an understanding of how to define and document long term problems that may be caused by accidents, such as oil spills. It is also concerned with the planning and design of equipment and processes for treatment and safe disposal of waste material and the conservation and wise use of natural resources. They may engage in areas of study including particle and surfaces, wastewater engineering and advanced water resources management. Graduates of the Master of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) will have achieved the higher levels of specialisation necessary to excel in their chosen field. Professional engineering skills developed throughout the course will reflect current industry standards in order to provide graduates with enhanced opportunities for advancement in their careers. New opportunities to progress into areas such as research and innovation in their field will also be possible following the completion of this course.

Students must hold a recognised Bachelor of Engineering degree in the same or similar field of study to the specialisation they are applying for, and have a credit average (or equivalent); or have completed the Graduate Diploma in Engineering at the University of Sydney with a credit average. They must satisfy IELTS minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band or TOEFL minimum result of 577 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in writing or IBT minimum result of 90 overall including a minimum result of 22 in reading, listening and speaking and 23 in writing.
