This program is suited to practising engineers and graduates wishing to develop and expand their knowledge and skills in their area of expertise along with engineering and technology management in order to enhance their career opportunities in a particular area. The specialisation in Telecommunications focuses on recent and advanced aspects of telecommunications, ranging from protocols used in networks such as the Internet, the operation and control of such networks, the design and operation of switches and routers within such networks. Aspects of advanced wireless communications are also covered, such as modulation techniques, coding techniques and information theory. The units of study include Professional Development Courses: ELEC3104 Digital Signal Processing (6 UOC), ELEC4601 Digital and Embedded Syst Design (6 UOC), ELEC4602 Microelectronic Design and Tech (6 UOC), ELEC4612 Power System Analysis (6 UOC), ELEC4613 Electrical Drive Systems (6 UOC), ELEC4631 Cont - Time Control Sys Design (6 UOC), PHTN4661 Optical Circuits and Fibres (6 UOC), PHTN4662 Photonic Networks (6 UOC), TELE3118 Network Technologies (6 UOC), TELE3119 Trusted Networks (6 UOC), TELE4642 Network Performance (6 UOC) and TELE4652 Mobile and Satellite Comm System (6 UOC). Specialisation Courses: TELE9751 Switching Systems Architecture (6 UOC), TELE9752 Network Operations and Control (6 UOC), TELE9753 Advanced Wireless Communication (6 UOC), TELE9754 Coding and Information Theory (6 UOC), TELE9755 Microwave Circuits, Theory and (6 UOC) and TELE9756 Advanced Networking (6 UOC). Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students must hold a Bachelor of Engineering from UNSW with at least Honours II/2 (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent qualification from another recognised university or tertiary institution in order to be admitted to the program. They should also satisfy the following English Language requirements: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall with a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the sub-tests of speaking, listening, reading and writing; TOEFL (IBT): 90 overall with a minimum score of 24 in writing; TOEFL (PBT): 577 overall with a minimum score of 5.0 in the Test of Written English (TWE); University English Entry Course (UEEC): successful completion of the UEEC with a grade of C+ (grade point 7.0) and a minimum score of 20 in the writing component.
