Ringkasan program
This course is designed for those who have completed appropriate tertiary qualifications in music, music education, or other approved Bachelors Degree. The course provides a thorough study of the theory, practice and research of music therapy. A major component of the course is four clinical training placements in hospitals, schools, residential care and the community. Graduates are employed in hospitals, special schools, aged care facilities, community health programs and private practice. The Master of Music Therapy course is approved and endorsed by the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Graduates are eligible to apply for Registration with AMTA.

Applicants must have a Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music Education degree (or equivalent), of at least three years duration; or a Bachelor degree in an allied field (e.g. teaching, occupational therapy, nursing etc.) plus a high standard of achievement in music performance (equivalent to 8th grade A.M.E.B), music history (equivalent to at least one-year study at tertiary level), and in music theory (equivalent to at least 5th grade A.M.E.B.). All applicants must have successfully completed at least two Psychology units at tertiary level. It is strongly recommended that applicants have some experience of working with people with special needs and have observed music therapy in practice. This experience will enhance the applicant's presentation at interview. International applicants must fulfill the following English language requirements: IELTS (academic English only) score of 6.5 (no band less than 6.0); TOEFL (paper-based test) score of 577 plus TWE 4.5; TOEFL (computer-based test) score of 233 plus 4.5 essay rating; TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 79 (writing 21, speaking 18, reading 13 and listening 13); Pearson Test of English (academic) score of 58-64 inclusive and no communicative skill below 50.
