This course has been designed to deliver current health professionals advanced knowledge and skills in management and business administration while undertaking further study in their public health related area of specialisation. Students will gain knowledge of current social and political trends and economic issues affecting public health while developing critical analysis, leadership and operational management skills relevant to health care organisations. It offers generic and specialised major areas of study. Majors include: aeromedical retrieval; biosecurity and disaster preparedness; communicable disease control; health promotion. The master of business administration component of this course combines advanced knowledge and research from the academic disciplines of business, law, psychology, technology, social science, applied science and humanities to explore key themes confronting modern managers in health care organisations.

Students must have completion of an appropriate undergraduate degree, from this or another University; or other qualifications recognized by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts as equivalent to the above. For applicants whose first language is not English, the following indicators of proficiency are acceptable: IELTS - 7.0 (no component lower than 7.0); TOEFL (paper based) - 557 (plus minimum Test of Written English score of 5.5); TOEFL (internet based) - 100 (minimum writing score of 23) and Pearson (PTE Academic) - 72.
