This program will provide an opportunity for students to undertake professional development and gain a strong foundation in public health. The program will be of interest to individuals of all ages, at any stage in their career, who have a basic undergraduate degree in health and are working in, or intending to work in, the area of public health. This includes: clinicians and allied health professionals, health planners and managers, individuals working in health promotion, health protection and health surveillance. There are core courses in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health and social and ecosystem health. They are then able to go into different specialist areas of study, including public health practice, research methodology, health promotion, health management and medical statistics. The program has a strong quantitative component. It builds on the excellent national and international reputation of the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics which has 25 years of postgraduate education and 18 years of distance learning teaching experience. As a health promotion graduate, you will be able to function in a wide range of Federal and State agencies as: health educators, health promotion officers and field scientist/practitioners. Health management graduates will be working or planning to work as: public health administrators, managers, clinicians and medical practitioners.

Students should have relevant bachelor degree in an approved health related discipline or have other qualifications approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Faculty of Health. International students must have attained the relevant IELTS standard.
