This program has been designed to develop skilled, committed and flexible education professionals with the knowledge and pedagogical skills to promote effective and inclusive learning in Junior Primary and Primary school settings. This recognised program includes approximately 69 days of Professional Experience (in-school practicum) arranged in blocks during three of the four study periods in the program. This program will help to develop graduates who are well prepared to enter the education profession with: a range of pedagogical skills necessary to be an effective professional educator; skills in motivating learners; an understanding of curriculum for this age group; an insight into the issues surrounding the social context of education including equity in education; knowledge of theories of learning; extensive teaching experience in school settings.

Students must have at least a three year degree from a recognised higher education institution, or equivalent. Students are advised that a successful criminal history screening clearance is required for all students prior to their undertaking any professional experience/practicum placement that involves contact with minors (under 18 years of age). International students must have an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test - a minimum overall score of 7.0 with a minimum score of 7.0 in Writing and Speaking sub scores and 6.5 in Reading and Listening sub scores; or TOEFL equivalent; or a tertiary qualification completed in Australia within the last two years at an acceptable academic level. Students are required to meet at least one of the English language entry requirements listed. IELTS 7.0, TOEFL PBT 600 with TWE of 5.0, TOEFL iBT 100 with no band less than 20, Cambridge CPE C, Cambridge CAE 67 (no less than Borderline in RW), CELUSA AE4, Pearson PTE Academic Bands below as per the Pearson equivalency table 74 with no communicative score less than 68.
