This course uses core knowledge from the academic disciplines of business, law, psychology, technology, social science and humanities to explore key areas confronting modern managers and organisations. The Human Resource Management (HRM) major is designed for those wishing to enhance their awareness and understanding of issues relating to the management of people in the workplace. It explores the strategic role of HRM in contemporary and future organisations; analyses critical issues relating to cross-cultural HRM activities of multi-national organisations and smaller organisations working in a global context; and examines the employment relationship, in particular the role of key players and institutional parties such as government, employer associations and unions and their impact upon management and employees.

Students must have completion of an appropriate undergraduate degree, equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, from this or another university; or other qualifications recognised by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Business and the Creative Arts as equivalent to the above; or completion of either the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Business Administration from this university. They must also satisfy the following English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.0 (no component lower than 5.5) or TOEFL (paper based) score of 550 (plus minimum Test of Written English score of 4.0) or TOEFL (internet based) score of 79 (minimum writing score of 19) or Pearson (PTE Academic) score of 57.
