This programme will help students to acquire and attain knowledge related to law and attain many aptitudes which are prized and valued by many potential employers: advanced communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in legal knowledge. Studying law can be very challenging, simulating and fun. Lawyers have important and diverse roles in society today. Law is a code that regulates the behavior of members of a society. It shapes society, economics and politics in a variety of ways. There are different areas of Law: Administrative or Public law which regulates international trade, taxation, and bureaucratic managerial procedures, and is administered by the government. Other areas of law include Commercial law which covers businesses including sales and business entities; International law governs the relationship between states and international organisations; and criminal law regulates the fine or imprisonment for any crime against the social order. Intellectual property law is the legal field that gives the exclusive right to control reproduction or adaptation of such works for a certain period of time. Information technology law only came into existence recently and governs the process and dissemination of information digitally. It covers a broad spectrum related to protection of computer software, privacy, security, access and control of digital information and e-commerce for paperless environment. The cyberspace era presents challenges far greater than radio, media or television; the internet has drawn much attention in regard to issues and shortcoming related internet and defamation laws. Defamation laws have been developed to provide recourse for people whose reputations are likely to be harmed by publication of information about them on the internet. Graduates can find career opportunities as IT - manager, consultant and analyst.

Modul program

The courses include Foundation courses includes: Academic Writing, Calculus and Introductory Economics; University core includes: Analytical Skills and Creative Thinking, Business, Government and Society, Management Communication, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Leadership and Team Building, Technology and World Change; Global and Regional Studies includes: Business Study Mission/Country Studies, International Economics, Political Economy of SEA/East Asia, Economic Development in Asia, Law and International Business, Intellectual Property Rights; Career Skills includes: Conflict Resolution, Negotiation, Work and Family; Information Systems Foundation includes: Seminar on IS Management, IS Software Foundations, Object Oriented Application Development, Data Management and Software Engineering; Information Systems Advanced Topics includes: Process Modelling and Solution Blueprinting, Enterprise Integration, Information Security and Trust, Enterprise Web Solutions and Architectural Analysis; IS Depth electives includes: IS Depth Elective 1 (Any IS Technology Depth Elective), IS Depth Elective 2 (Any IS Technology or IS Management Depth Elective) and IS Depth Elective 3 (Any IS Technology or IS Management Depth Elective).

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have attained 18 years of age. They should have least 12 years of education and have obtained good passes in a national or international examination that is recognised for the purpose of admission. SAT or ACT (including the writing test) or GMAT (if SAT is not available) scores are required. ACT or GMAT scores must reach SMU by 31 May to be considered. Interview or essay writing for all short-listed students who are not residing in Singapore will be interviewed by telephone. Students from India should have obtained Standard 12 education. Chinese students need to have completed their National College Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) qualification. American students must have earned High School Diploma. Malaysian students must have STPM/UEC qualification. Students from Germany are required to have German Arbitur qualification. Students from United Kingdom must have earned A Levels - Cambridge, Edexel, AQA (good passes in at least three advanced - Level subjects). International students must fulfill the following English language requirements (minimum scores): TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 213 (computer-based), 79 - 80 (internet-based) or an IELTS overall band score of 6.5 and with Malaysian University English Test (MUET): overall band of at least 5.
