The course is designed for participants who have completed the basic spreadsheet modelling course or experienced user of spreadsheet. This course illustrates how spreadsheets can be used creatively with amazing outcomes. Spreadsheet is a powerful tool for business analysis. Analysis would involve different management situations and model structural types: many simple formulas, complex formulas (large number of inputs and difficult relationships), large data set, model visualisation and simulation, deterministic, dynamic (time-varying) and stochastic (uncertain) inputs, or constraints on solution space. The course objectives: increase the competency in using spreadsheet application as an analysis, model verification, simulation and management reporting tool; be exposed to a variety of software solutions (add-ins) in Excel; be able to build complex spreadsheet application with Macros and basic programming in VBA. Upon successful completion of this course, an attendee will be able to: understand the importance of simulation to verify analytical results; learn to automate lookup of information from a data list; learn to set up simulation models and test decision choices under uncertainty; learn to record, minor edit and run macros; learn to do computations with time and date variables; learn to compute basic statistics of data sets; learn to fit data to statistical distributions; obtain an exemption from the 1 module (C.2 Spreadsheet Modeling for T and O Managers) in both tracks of the Master of IT in Business programme at SMU-SIS provided the participants pass the exemption test. Upon successful completion of the course participant will receive a Certification of Completion from SMU-SIS Professional Programme Office.

The Singapore Management University has the following hostel facilities: SMU Residences at Prinsep and Accommodation at Havelock. The SMU Residences at Prinsep Street is open to fresh undergraduates uprooted from their home towns, to get used to life in SMU and in Singapore. The residence is in close proximity to Little India, Arab Street, Bugis Junction and the National Library. The hostel is surrounded by museums, theatres, educational institutions, art galleries, cafes, restaurants and a range of retail outlets. The residence consists of three blocks of four-storey apartments in a tropical setting with landscaping and abundant foliage. There are a total of 48 individual apartments. Each has a lounge cum dinning area, equipped with refrigerator and microwave oven, two toilets cum shower and four bedrooms with multi-split air conditioning (two single and two twin sharing bed) which can accommodate up to six residents. Rooms are furnished with a loft bed/study table, wardrobe, towel rail study chairs, waste bins and mattress. Rooms are also equipped with power points, LAN points and circular PL lamps. SMU has recently leased 220 beds of student hostels at Havelock Road from EM Services Pte Ltd (a private hostel operator) and it is open to senior undergraduate students (full-time SMU students second year and above), exchange students and full time post graduate students who plans to study full time at SMU for the forthcoming semester. There are 56 apartments which consist of a common lounge on the 15th floor. Each apartment has a living room (approx.16.68sqm) with a dining table; a kitchen (approx. 3.6sqm) equipped with refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle, electrical hot plate for simple cooking; a toilet cum shower and two bedrooms (approx. 12.95sqm) with air conditioning, two single beds, mattresses, study tables/chairs and wardrobe. The apartment is fully equipped with power points and wireless internet connection.
