Ringkasan program

This program combines biological and chemical sciences with engineering concepts, and with a strong emphasis on biopharmaceutical technologies. The program equips students with a sound grounding in basic sciences and fundamentals of biotechnology techniques; and an in-depth understanding of the upstream and downstream biologics processes, with the emphasis on the operating principles and applications. Students gain a strong and practical knowledge in the simulation, operation and optimization of the chemical process; and an appreciation of the regulatory requirements and good practices in the biopharmaceutical industry. The program exposes students to the various strategies employed in the industry through case studies and an analytical, independent and innovative mindset plus good communications and IT skills. Graduates can find employment in the biologics, chemical and pharmaceuticals industry as a process technologist or engineering assistant in the areas of operations, process and equipment design, plant safety, project engineering, process control; Technical expert in sales and marketing of chemical, pharmaceuticals or medical products; Laboratory technologist in chemical/pharmaceutical quality control and R and D laboratories; Quality assurance specialist; Clinical trials executive in the research institutes or hospitals. A large proportion of diploma graduates pursue further studies, either in local or overseas universities. Through Nanyang Polytechnic's linkages with well known overseas institutions.

Modules include Engineering Mathematics 1A/1B and 1A/1C, Communication Skills, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering Principles, Material Science, Biochemical Science, Project Engineering Drawing, Organic Chemistry, Quality Control, Complementary Studies 1 and 2, Semestral Project 1 and 2, Engineering Mathematics 2A and 2B, Analytical Chemistry, Reactor Systems, Process Instrumentation and Control, Thermodynamics, Fluid and Particle Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Molecular and Cell Biology, Good Manufacturing Practice, Complementary Studies 3 and 4, Semestral Project 3 and 4, Industrial Safety and Loss Prevention, Biologics Processes, Process Operations and Optimization, Semestral Full-Time Project, Industrial Attachment, specialization in biopharmaceutical technology: Biologics Purification, Molecular Biotechnology, Analytical Biochemistry, or specialization in process technology: Pharmaceutical Processes, Petrochemical Processes, Process and Control Engineering.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students from Malaysia, should have SPM/UEC: candidates must have the following minimum results taken at not more than two sittings of the SPM/UEC Examination: Grade A+ to C / 1 to 6 in Bahasa Inggeris; A+ to C / 1 to 6 in Elementary, Additional or Advanced Mathematics; A+ to C / 1 to 6 in A required Science subject: Biology; Chemistry; Physics. Chinese students need to have completed National College Entrance Examination Certificate qualifications with at least five points above Tier 2 score line. Indian, Indonesian and Vietnamese students should have Standard 12 qualifications. Students from Myanmar should have BEHS Certificate. Other international students need to have International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or national examination at Standard 12.
