This course equips students with practical knowledge and mind-skills, with in-depth exploration of their creative potential to achieve breakthroughs in design innovation for a variety of media forms including print, web and TV. The design studios are work areas integrated with computer workstations equipped with state-of-the-art software. The drawing studio and photography studio are specially built to cater to the necessary creative space that best facilitates artistic exploration and experimentation by students. Students will be exposed to industry best practices, and real-world creative agency scenarios through industry visits, guest speakers and real-life projects. The Diploma in Visual Communication and Media Design (formerly known as Diploma in Creative Media Design), jointly offered by the School of Design and the School of Digital Media and Infocomm Technology, is designed to provide a holistic design education that incorporates aesthetics, humanities and social sciences, technology and the integrated use of various media. Graduates will be able to find challenging and rewarding positions in these areas: Design consultancies, advertising agencies, publishing companies, photography studios, Internet / New Media companies, and corporations with an emphasis on communication design. They would be employed as Graphic Designers, Junior Art Directors, New Media Designers, DTP Designers, Photography Assistants, Illustrators, Visualisers, Packaging Designers, Web Designers, Digital Artists, Interaction Designers or Visual Media Producers. Graduates who have done well for the course may be able to apply for advanced standing to a degree in a university.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Applicants from India should have obtained Secondary School Certificate (Year 10) or Senior School Certificate (Year 12). Students from other countries should have country specific requirements equivalent to New Zealand. They should also have sufficient level of Proficiency in the English Language with TOEFL score of 550 [paper-based], 213 [computer-based] or 79 [internet-based], or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) overall minimum score of 6.0.
