This programme is a horizontal focused degree where students will learn the linkages across service delivery process, data, operations, analytics, technology and architecture of several service industries, including health care, hospitality, retail, supply chain, transportation and entertainment. A data-centric perspective for understanding service delivery with the emphasis on emerging ‘next-practices’ of real time, adaptive data analytics with massive amounts and multiple types of data. The programme is designed in close collaboration with experts, using rich examples from these service industries. The rationale for launching this new track in service sector is as follows: the Service Sector is constantly faced with the challenge of getting a real competitive edge or differentiation since service is an intangible ‘product’. Thus, there is an increase need in using Business Intelligence and Data Analytics to improve the service offerings, productivity and agility in the service sector; following the success of the first track in Financial Services Industry (FSI), the SMU School of Information Systems (SIS) has demonstrated the ability to design and deliver courses at the masters level, which links the business domain and IT; SIS already has strong working relationships with many of the Technology and Operations executives in the service sector; to the knowledge, there are no courses available thus far with the same focus, content and depth. Students will also be trained in essential business methods and management concepts required for assuming senior levels of responsibility technology and operations. The programme also provides the necessary foundation for understanding and managing technology and operations projects, and using Data Analytics to create more value for the business.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have a good bachelor's degree preferably in computer science, information systems, IT, engineering, or science. At least two years of IT and/or operations related work experience in banking, or other segments of the financial services industry is required. They should have obtained GMAT scores. Foreigners who are working and based in Singapore, and professionals with strong IT and/or operations work experience in other industries are also encouraged to apply. The admission interviews will be conducted for short-listed candidates.
