This programme is designed to equip students with doctoral-level knowledge in research methodology and substantive content knowledge in psychology, with a focus on areas in experimental, social, personality, and organizational psychology. The goals of the programme are: to equip students with state-of-the-art knowledge about the psychology research literature; to equip students with the basic and applied research skills for conducting empirical studies/projects as well as evaluating these studies or projects; to equip students with the skills to link theory, constructs, measurement, method, data analysis and inferences in substantive areas to make recommendations and decisions that are scientifically defensible; and to train and mentor students to prepare them for psychology and psychology-related careers in academia and industry.
Modul program
The courses include Research Methods in Psychology, Psychological Measurement, General Linear Model, Multivariate Statistics, Personality and Individual Differences, Social Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Cultural Psychology, Evolutionary Psychology, Systems in Psychology, Social Cognition, Lifespan Development, Judgment and Decision Making, Psychology of Emotion, Psychology of the Self.

Admission to the programme is highly competitive. Students with strong GPA and GRE scores and a demonstrated record of research experience will have an added advantage. A master's degree is not necessary and will neither enhance nor hinder an applicant's chances of admission. Students must have a good bachelor's degree in psychology or a relevant bachelor's degree. The Graduate Record Examination (both the general exam and the psychology subject exam) scores are required. An acceptable TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English) scores are required for students whose prior education was not conducted in English.

Uraian Tempat
The School of Economics and Social Sciences (SESS) was established on 1 July 2002 to launch the Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree programme majoring in Economics, and subsequently the Bachelor of Social Science undergraduate degree programme majoring in psychology, sociology, or political science. Due to expansion and strategic reasons, the SESS was restructured in 2007 into two separate schools namely, the School of Social Sciences and the School of Economics. The restructuring allows both schools, which have been rapidly growing in student enrolment and faculty numbers, to have greater focus on their individual strengths and develop distinctive curriculums at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The School of Social Sciences offers the Bachelor of Social Science, the first broad-based multidisciplinary social sciences undergraduate programme to be introduced in Singapore and adapted from the prestigious ‘Philosophy, Politics and Economics’ programme at the University of Pennsylvania and Oxford University.

The Singapore Management University has the following hostel facilities: SMU Residences at Prinsep and Accommodation at Havelock. The SMU Residences at Prinsep Street is open to fresh undergraduates uprooted from their home towns, to get used to life in SMU and in Singapore. The residence is in close proximity to Little India, Arab Street, Bugis Junction and the National Library. The hostel is surrounded by museums, theatres, educational institutions, art galleries, cafes, restaurants and a range of retail outlets. The residence consists of three blocks of four-storey apartments in a tropical setting with landscaping and abundant foliage. There are a total of 48 individual apartments. Each has a lounge cum dinning area, equipped with refrigerator and microwave oven, two toilets cum shower and four bedrooms with multi-split air conditioning (two single and two twin sharing bed) which can accommodate up to six residents. Rooms are furnished with a loft bed/study table, wardrobe, towel rail study chairs, waste bins and mattress. Rooms are also equipped with power points, LAN points and circular PL lamps. SMU has recently leased 220 beds of student hostels at Havelock Road from EM Services Pte Ltd (a private hostel operator) and it is open to senior undergraduate students (full-time SMU students second year and above), exchange students and full time post graduate students who plans to study full time at SMU for the forthcoming semester. There are 56 apartments which consist of a common lounge on the 15th floor. Each apartment has a living room (approx.16.68sqm) with a dining table; a kitchen (approx. 3.6sqm) equipped with refrigerator, microwave oven, kettle, electrical hot plate for simple cooking; a toilet cum shower and two bedrooms (approx. 12.95sqm) with air conditioning, two single beds, mattresses, study tables/chairs and wardrobe. The apartment is fully equipped with power points and wireless internet connection.
