Accounting and finance is concerned with the measurement and disclosure of financial information; the accounting and finance programmes at Aberystwyth aim to develop an understanding of how financial data may be manipulated in order to influence managers, investors and decision makers; students also develop an understanding of how the presentation of financial information can impact on the longevity of a company or public sector organisation; throughout the programme students develop the skills and expert judgement for financial manipulation and presentation and an understanding of the legal framework regulating operational practice; the programme aims to enable students to develop a broad understanding of the operational context and the impact financial measurement and disclosure has on cash-flow streams, internal policy and management systems.

All years: Core modules include financial accounting for specialists (the regulatory environment; valuation and measurement; group financial reporting; recent developments); management accounting (including recent developments); mathematics for economics and finance; economic principles; management accounting (fundamental concepts and techniques for decision-making); quantitative methods for accounting and business; financial management; the business environment; management skills; law for business; company law for business students; investments; computing for accounting and business; marketing principles; financial markets and institutions; the business game and corporate finance; options include financial statement analysis; analytical techniques for management control; the role and practice of audit; taxation; public sector accounting and financial management and case studies in accounting and business.
