Ringkasan program
Students study climate change, nitrate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions and the effect that they have on the production of crops and animals, either directly (e.g. warmer temperatures) or indirectly (e.g. environmental regulations that affect land management); applicants have the opportunity to study the challenging global problem of how to reduce human impact on the environment while maintaining food and biofuel supplies.
Modul program
Year 1: Core modules: Foundation science; genetics and cell biology; whole organism biology; applications of biology; principles of ecology; contemporary agricultural systems; plant science; introduction to animal physiology; grassland management; data transfer, analysis and presentation; plus options chosen from: applied entomology; global environmental processes; environmental science & society; genetics with specialist options; dissertation in environmental science. Year 2: Core modules: Soil science; applied crop science; economic analysis for agricultural and environmental sciences; climate change science; communicating environmental science; research techniques; plus options chosen from: world agroecosystems; applied animal science; environmental change; plant responses to environmental stress; resource capture by plants: from cell to community; rural environmental geography; biological photography and imaging 1; agricultural and food marketing; crop management challenge (field course). Year 3: Core module: Agricultural and environmental science research project; plus options chosen from: environmental pollution field course; environmental remote sensing; environmental modelling application; managing pests and pollution; soil and water pollution and reclamation; soil and water science; current issues in crop science; plant disease control; field crops; field crops: cereals; plants and the light environment; resource capture by plants: water and nutrients; genetic improvement of crop plants; applied bioethics 1: animals, biotechnology and society; applied bioethics 2: sustainable food production, biotechnology and the environment; rural business management; management consultancy.
