This course is designed to explore the therapeutic benefits offered by animals, evidence for these benefits being now well established; it includes their value as companions, in work with individuals with special needs and within the medical and psychological professions.

Academic and professional skills; animal husbandry; animal health and nutrition; animal systems; animal welfare and legislation; applied animal health; behaviour of companion animals; biology, brain and behaviour; marketing; indigenous species; practical animal management; principles of animal behaviour; wild animal care and management; work based learning; options may include: applied exotic species behaviour; aquarium management; behaviour of domestic animals; bird ethology; canine behaviour and counselling; equine ethology and behaviour; herpetology.
