This programme provides students with scientific knowledge of the coastal environment and the pressures placed on it, and develops the skills required to assimilate knowledge over a wide range of disciplines and apply it to environmental analyses; the programme produces graduates with a scientific knowledge of the coastal environment and an understanding of the pressures placed upon it; it develops the skills required to assimilate knowledge over many disciplines and apply it to environmental analyses; graduates advise on, organise and control the development of marine resources and activities internationally, and help industry and governments protect and manage the world's seas; the programme addresses exploration and expoitation of coastal seas; nearshore pollution monitoring; coastal engineering management;research topics range from an investigation of the impact of a new sea wall on sediment transport to a study of the effects of contaminants in marine waters.

Modul program

Core modules: research methods; integrated coastal zone management; project planning for Mres; marine chemistry and near shore ecology; geology, geophysics and physical oceanography of shelves and coasts; research skills; marine science and regulations; Mres dissertation.
