This course helps students in the development of practical skills with encouraging expression and personal creativity. They will explore a variety of materials, processes and techniques, and simultaneously building on their contextual knowledge. They will draw upon previous learning experiences to devise their own project. On successful completion they can progress to Foundation Diploma in Art and Design, New Media, Fashion, Architecture, etc.

The College facilities include an 80 seat theatre, a music recording studio, three art studios (fine art and screen printing, sculpture and ceramics, textiles), and a photography studio with dark and light rooms. All the classrooms benefit from access to modern technologies including interactive whiteboards, laptops and plasma screens.
Each room has been fitted to the highest standards and is well equipped to allow the delivery of a wide range of experiments and demonstrations to stimulate student learning. They provides high quality city centre accommodation similar to university halls of residence just 20-30 minutes from the College. The accommodation offers single study bedrooms with private bathroom, 24hr security and high speed internet access. Younger students can live with home stay families who provide a welcoming and safe environment.
